God says what He means and means what He says through His Holy scriptures. In the book of Numbers, God blesses Israel and commits to fight for them and be with them.

Our Hope is anchored in God’s Word:  What has God said in His Word about the Jewish people and the land of Israel? What promises and covenants has God made to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Every Christian will be blessed to not only know these scriptures but recognize their fulfillment in this time we live, and to use them as the basis of our prayer for Israel.

In the previous studies, we saw in the scriptures God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel). God promised them the land of Canaan and even described the boundaries of the land He promised. In this study, we will look at the book of Numbers and see God determined to bless Israel, fight for them, free them from foreign gods, and again set the boundaries of the land He promises to them.

Numbers 6:23-27 NASB 1995:  God blesses Israel.

“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘In this way you shall bless the sons of Israel. You are to say to them: The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD cause His face to shine on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His face to you, And give you peace.’ So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and then I will bless them.”

Numbers 23:19-24 NASB 1995:  God does not lie. “Has He said, and will He not do it.” God fights for Israel, is with them, and protects them against evil.

“God is not a man, that He would lie,
Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Behold, I have received a command to bless;
When He has blessed, I cannot revoke it.
He has not looked at misfortune in Jacob;
Nor has He seen trouble in Israel;
The LORD his God is with him,
And the joyful shout of a king is among them.
God brings them out of Egypt,
He is for them like the horns of the wild ox.
For there is no magic curse against Jacob,
Nor is there any divination against Israel;
At the proper time it shall be said to Jacob
And to Israel, what God has done!
Behold, a people rises like a lioness,
And like a lion it raises itself;
It will not lie down until it devours the prey,
And drinks the blood of those slain.”

Numbers 33:4 NASB 1995: God executed Judgement on the gods of Egypt. He freed Israel to serve Him.

“while the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn whom the LORD had fatally struck among them. The LORD had also executed judgments against their gods.”

Numbers 34:1-12 NASB 1995: God gives Canaan to the sons of Israel as their inheritance and establishes their borders from the river to the sea.

“Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Command the sons of Israel and say to them, “When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance, that is, the land of Canaan according to its borders. Your southern region shall extend from the wilderness of Zin along the side of Edom, and your southern border shall extend from the end of the Salt Sea eastward. Then your border shall change direction from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim and continue to Zin, and its termination shall be to the south of Kadesh-barnea; and it shall reach Hazaraddar and continue to Azmon. Then the border shall change direction from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and its termination shall be at the sea.

‘As for the western border, you shall have the Great Sea, that is, its coastline; this shall be your western border.

‘And this shall be your northern border: you shall draw your boundary from the Great Sea to Mount Hor. You shall draw a boundary from Mount Hor to the Lebo-hamath, and the termination of the border shall be at Zedad; and the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and its termination shall be at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern border.

‘For your eastern border you shall also draw a boundary from Hazar-enan to Shepham, and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; and the border shall go down and reach to the slope on the east side of the Sea of Chinnereth. And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its termination shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to its borders on all sides.’”
