Our Hope is anchored in God’s Word: What has God said
in His Word about the Jewish people and the land of
Israel? What promises and covenants has God made to the
descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Every
Christian will be blessed to not only know these
scriptures, but recognize their fulfillment in this
time we live, and to use them as the basis of our
prayer for Israel.
In the previous studies we saw in the scriptures God’s
covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel). God
promised them the land of Canaan and even described the
boundaries of the land He promised. In this study God
says He will not forget His covenant with Israel,
states again and again His deep love for Israel, and
says that His power will secure Canaan as His promised
land for them.
Deut. 4:31, 37-39 NASB 1995: God will not forget His
covenant with Israel. He loved Israel’s Fathers and
chose their descendants to be His people. He uses His
great power to give Israel the land of Canaan for an
inheritance.
31 "For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He
will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the
covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.
37 "Because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose
their descendants after them. And He personally brought
you from Egypt by His great power, 38 driving out from
before you nations greater and mightier than you, to
bring you in and to give you their land for an

inheritance, as it is today. 39 "Know therefore today,
and take it to your heart, that the Lord, He is God in
heaven above and on the earth below; there is no
other."

Deut. 6:4-5 NASB 1995: God asks that Israel love Him
with all our heart, soul, and strength.
4 "Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is
one! 5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your
might."

Deut. 7:6-9 NASB 1995: God sets His love on Israel and
because of His love He keeps His oath to them. He is
the faithful God who keeps His covenant and His
lovingkindness to a thousand generations to those who
love Him.
6 For you are a holy people to the LORD your God;
the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His
own possession out of all the peoples who are on the
face of the earth. 7 “The LORD did not set His love on
you nor choose you because you were more in number than
any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all
peoples, 8 but because the LORD loved you and kept
the oath which He swore to your
forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand
and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the
hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that
the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who
keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a
thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep
His commandments;

Deut. 10:12-15 NASB 1995: It’s amazing how clear God
states again and again His deep love for Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants. He asks Israel to
be in awe of Him, to walk in His ways, and to love Him.
12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require
of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all
His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God
with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to
keep the LORD’S commandments and His statutes which I am
commanding you today for your good? 14 Behold, to
the LORD your God belong heaven and the highest
heavens, the earth and all that is in it. 15 Yet
the LORD set His affection on your fathers, to love
them, and He chose their descendants after them, you
over all the other peoples, as it is this day.

Deut. 11:12 NASB 1995: The eyes of the Lord are always
on Israel.
“a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of
the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning
even to the end of the year.”
