PARASHAH May 30, 2026 B’HA’ALOTCHA “……When you set up…..” Numbers 8:1 – 12:16

by | May 26, 2026

The Lord continues to speak to Moses concerning the tabernacle and how everything is to be
done. He tells Moses to speak to Aaron about lighting the Menorah. He speaks to Moses
concerning the purification of the Levites who will be separated and serve in the tabernacle.
Moses and Aaron do all that the Lord instructs them to do. God speaks to Moses about
reinstituting Passover. It has been two years since they left Egypt, and this will be the first
Passover they will celebrate in the wilderness. From the time the tabernacle was set in the
wilderness, God showed His presence was with them… a cloud by day and pillar of fire at
night. When the cloud was taken up, the Israelites moved camp, and where the cloud settled,
they camped. They followed the cloud. This was their life. They ate the manna provide for
them daily, but they were not content…they were not happy, and they started to complain
to Moses…they wanted meat. The Lord sent meat in the form of quails….many quails, and He
also sent His anger to their constant complaining in the form of disease.
Moses hears from his brother and sister, Aaron and Miriam, who speak against his leadership
and wonder why God ONLY speaks to him with instructions. God’s anger was kindled again,
against Miriam, who was afflicted with leprosy for seven days.
The story is getting very interesting and definitely shows the challenges of Leadership that
Moses is facing. It’s not a “happy” place to be when it seems all is against you. But that is
exactly what happens when we put SELF first. The change was difficult for the Israelites since
they left Egypt. The had not “shed” their old behavior and were beginning to regret their
decision. As slaves, they made no decisions, the decisions were made for them. Now they
are free and don’t know how to think for themselves yet. The change has come but the
TRANSITION has not. Has this ever happened to you?
Remember: The closer we get to God the EASIER it is to put our desires aside…to appreciate
what He has given to us….FREELY.
